For me the extra performance isn't enough to offset the headaches of an SMG

Very true, although it's still a great car (tainted as it may be).

Agreed, id take it over most any other car, just not another E46 M3 with a 6 speed

I really hate when people put "Manual" in the transmission description when it's a SMG. Same thing for the Ferrari F1 transmission. It's not a manual you jackass sellers, quite calling them Manual. Really chaps my ass man.

Not a bad price. I sold my Alpine White ZCP in Fort Collins earlier this year with 52k miles for $24500. Obviously there's room for negotiation so if you could get it for $23k that's a fair deal.

They should "quite." It is "quite" annoying when they do that. "Quite" frankly, it makes more sense to call it an automatic, so they need to "quite" with the manual description.

Agreed. Ever since I drove one, I've been a fan. Well, the M3 standard-ish. As in it still had the SMG, but it wasn't a competition. I honestly had no problem with the SMG, but the manual is definitely preferred.

I just drove my SMG M3. I kinda like it better than the Manuél because I already have other stick shift cars. Driving a single clutch paddle shift transmission makes me feel like I'm driving a race car with a sequential box :D

Mine was SMG. It's not as refined as the DCT but still a great setup. Especially if you're in a lot of traffic. I bought mine in Atlanta, and then moved to Colorado. Had i bought it there though i would of likely got a manual over smg though (unless i was commuting on I-25).

Nice. My car must be worth more than I thought it is then. It's got 42,000 miles, 2004 SMG coupe.
I'm waiting for the airbag recall. BMW told me they are waiting on parts. It's frustrating. Every time I drive the car I think it's going to kill me.

E46 prices are on the rise for low mileage ones.
I know how you feel. We got a recall notice for the wifes car vanos bolts like 9 months ago saying they would send another notice once parts are in stock. Who knows when that will be. Something they should of done on E46's as well.

I knew the value of the low mileage stick shift E46 M3s have been on the rise. I didn't know SMG cars are going up a bit too. Interesting. Now I really don't want to sell it. I only drive it once or twice a week so it's always going to be low mileage. It has never been used as a DD. I'm the third owner and all owners used it as a weekend/fun car.
I know this sounds crazy but I'm actually using cars as long-term investments. I stopped making 401K contributions. Instead I just buy cars and I'm planning on never selling them. I have the space to hold them. Stock and bonds are boring - you can't drive them. But sports cars are hard assets that you can see, touch and drive. I'm thinking the next addition will be Italian, have a V12 and Manuél inside. Who's to say that won't be a better investment in the long run than my 401K?
Too many M's

Hmmmmm, for the SMG that seems a little spendy to me. You could spend a little more and get an EAG car.
